What you can do to help

If you suspect child abuse/neglect is occurring, please call 1-866-820-5437 and report your concerns to Child & Family Services. If you’ve called and it appears like the abuse is still on-going, call again. If that does not resolve it, call 911.

Please, please speak up if you see, hear or suspect a child is being abused or neglected. You may call anonymously. A simple phone call expressing your concern may save the life of a child.

Donate your time

There are many ways to help in child welfare. One of the most rewarding is by volunteering to become a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). As a CASA, you represent the interest of the child(ren) directly to the judge. For more information, please visit their website: casacan.org

Educate yourself

There are a lot of great resources out there to help educate the community about the prevalence of child abuse/neglect within our city, county, state and country. One local organization is The Dandelion Foundation. Please visit their website for more information.

Foster grandparents

If you are age 55 and older, consider volunteering to be a Foster Grandparent. They “serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for children and youth with special needs.” For more information, please visit their website.
